Marchica Nador Lagoon is a Moroccan project aimed at the development of the Marchica lagoon site. It is part of a seven-year plan between 2014 and 2020 [2]. At the end of 2017, the involved investments amounted to DH 3.5 billion [3]. The lagoon extends over 11,500 hectares in area, 24 km of sand dunes and 7 km in width [3]. The objective is to reconstitute on the former site of Nador’s wastewater, natural habitats of migratory birds, passing through the lagoon [3].
On the other hand, this global project, which aims to transform the landscape of the region [2], revolves around seven achievements that some do not hesitate to qualify as the seven wonders, namely the city of Atalayoun, the city of two seas, the new city of Nador, the Baie des Flamants [3], the Marchica sport, the Marchica Vergers and the Fishermen’s Village distributed as follows: 13.6 billion for residential , 3.3 billion for hotel accommodation, 3.1 billion for equipment and services, 8.3 billion for infrastructure and 17.6 billion induced by development.
The impact of this project in terms of job creation is estimated at 15,000 jobs created (4,700 direct and 10,300 indirect) during the building phase. Once the projects are delivered, 65,000 jobs are planned, including 30,000 direct and 35,000 indirect jobs.
